Help gather as many signatures as possible before December 15th​*

The Parental Notification initiative will require that a physician notify a parent at least 48 hours before performing an abortion on a minor girl under the age of 18 (with a judicial bypass for cases of parental abuse).

Thirty-nine states now have parental involvement laws in effect.
​California will be the 40th.
These laws have proven effective in deterring sexual exploitation of minor girls as shown by reductions in pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases among minor children.Qualifying and passing a Parental Notification Amendment is of crucial importance in California because approximately 20,000 abortions per year are performed on minor girls in California, which is about 20% of all abortions performed on minor girls in the USA.

Because of the lack of a Parental Notification law in California, minor girls, especially poor, minority, and immigrant girls, are vulnerable to sexual abuse and exploitation by older male predators who can cover up their crimes with secret abortions and then continue the sexual exploitation.

Minors in California also suffer from very high rates of sexually transmitted diseases.

California state government provides state taxpayer funding to perform secret abortions on minor children without parental notification.

We will continue the fight to protect young girls from the dangers of secret abortions. As we plan for the future, Californians for Parental Rights will continue to be accessible at this website.

Protect a Parent’s Right to Know

In California, a girl under age 18 can’t get a cavity filled, or an aspirin dispensed by the school nurse without a parent knowing.

But a physician’s assistant, nurse, or midwife can perform an abortion on a young girl without informing a parent.

Hispanic Church of Bakersfield

Iglesia Hispana, an Assembly of God church, sent in heavy packet of signed petitions.

This is the second Hispanic Evangelical church, also from Bakersfield, to respond so well to the call for signatures

Catholic churches get petition packets directly in hands of parishioners

One church in Central Valley ordered 5,000 packets to insert in all the church bulletins. Another in northern San Diego County will have ushers handing out to all Mass-goers after Communion.

Petition packets include two 5-signature petitions, an explanatory flyer, and an instruction sheet in English and Spanish.Order your petition packets here.

St. Anne’s Church in San Diego
500 signatures, 400 packets handed out
Turned in 500 signatures in a parish only with 350 registered families.
Also handed out over 400 petition packets for churchgoers to get signatures from family, friends, and neighbors. St. Anne’s was the first of the state’s 1,100 Catholic churches to turn in petitions. About 50 Catholic churches already have petitions. The California bishops seem close to issuing a statement of support, which will increase parish participation.
